About Me

Personal

First off, any other Web site other than pages that are solely controlled by me are not going to give you the full story, so keep that in mind. I want people to come to this page to find out more about me personally, not someone they have read about in the newspapers and through Google searches.

I’m a newspaper editor for The Ellis County Press, an independent muckraker paper that has lit politicians up and exposed corrupt public officials since 1992. No other paper like this one exists in this state. I will end my employment on Monday, Feb. 16 and make my way to New Hampshire for a variety of reasons: mainly that of school, but more importantly, a breath of fresh air and a completely new, different chapter in my life (I assure those in NH that it will be nothing remotely close to what it is in Ellis County.)

I’ve handed over the reins of my popular news blog, The Ellis County Observer, to one of my reporters. Together, numerous contributing bloggers will sustain that site.

About Dauben Inc./TIPA

I own Dauben Inc., a/k/a Texas International Property Associates. Most of the Google searches on both of those names will reveal parts of the whole story. Basically it’s like this: My company manages a portfolio of domain names, and as a result of being one of the largest Internet real estate firms in the world, certain corporations bully their way into fighting me. Sometimes we win, sometimes we don’t win.

The two companies I own – separate from any journalistic venture – have quite a bit of a reputation that I think I should attempt to clarify. The Internet real estate ventures get their own tab.

First: Dauben Inc. = Texas International Property Associates
Second: Privacy Protection Services Inc. = Oakwood Services

The right side of the equal signs are d/b/a designations. Those are the two that usually pop up in Google searches and court filings. I’m asked to give depositions often, and I’ve even been in court proceedings (witness stand, etc.) to represent both companies and the business model that I utilize.

I can’t say a whole bunch due to legal staff review, but there’s so much more about both companies and about the Internet real estate business that it would take a public speech before a Rotary Club or something to actually understand the complexities of it all.

I absolutely love this business. In fact, my real knowledge and inner workings of the court system in both Texas and the world became my fascination and ultimately, my goal of one day becoming a lawyer.

If I could just grasp Web site development, I think I could be of more value. Sure, I can set up little templates and write HTML, but elaborate graphic-design-incorporated projects I’m not that good at. I’d like to learn though.

If you’re looking for contact information for both companies, or just one, please refer to texasipa@gmail.com. Going through that chain of command is a lot easier than contacting me. Trust me.

Messianic

I’m spiritual, and have been blessed with immense talents and resources needed to do my job. I am what you would call a Hebraic Roots Christian, or more popularly known, a Messianic believer.

I’m a graduate of Midlothian (Texas) High School, Class of 2001. To this day I still fend off rumors about why I was 20 when I graduated. The simple, truthful answer: 4th and 6th grades, my mom held me back. The school didn’t fail me. I didn’t fail. It was simply a family decision and it was the best thing to have ever happened. I hope one day to possibly be someone that can be looked up to for sticking with it and graduating. A lot of people I know didn’t stick with it, they would have quit a long time ago. But I didn’t.

I was a newspaper reporter for six years before ever stepping foot on a college campus. I learned the value of a real education because I was experiencing the real world – and covering it with wide-ranging amounts of success.

I have a goal to one day run for President of the United States.

I have a goal of one day attending law school and possibly becoming a licensed lawyer. I want to specialize in Constitutional law and become an advocate for those who don’t have a lot of money or resources or connections to fight for themselves.

My dog has his own MySpace profile.

I adore my three nephews and niece, and will hopefully one day start a family, but right now, I’m focused on getting to college in New Hampshire and meeting as many cool new friends as possible.

It might sound as if I’m a little egotistical, but it’s really just my social networking personality. I’m a goofball when I’m not surrounded by mayors, judges, elected officials, journalists and other political types.

I want New Hampshire to be a new chapter, a new slate and a new opportunity. That is, basically, a nutshell view of who I am.
